Do you know that cleaning and disinfecting your toilet is an important part of maintaining a clean and hygienic bathroom. Today I will be sharing a few tips step-by-step guide on how to clean and disinfect your toilet effectively:

ree

**Materials you'll need:**

1. Rubber gloves

2. Toilet brush

3. Toilet cleaner or disinfectant (commercial or homemade)

4. White vinegar or lemon juice (optional)

5. Baking soda (optional)

6. Microfiber or disposable cleaning cloths

7. Spray bottle (if using homemade cleaner)

**Lets get started**

1. **Put on gloves**: To protect your hands from germs and harsh chemicals, wear rubber gloves before starting the cleaning process.

2. **Flush the toilet**: Before cleaning, flush the toilet to wet the sides of the bowl. This will help the cleaner adhere to the surfaces better.

3. **Apply the cleaner**: Use a toilet cleaner or disinfectant of your choice. Apply the cleaner under the rim of the bowl, covering the entire interior surface, and allow it to sit for a few minutes (check the instructions on the cleaner's label for recommended contact time).

4. **Scrub the bowl**: Take a toilet brush and scrub the interior of the bowl, paying particular attention to areas with stains or mineral deposits. Scrub well around the waterline and under the rim where bacteria tend to accumulate.

5. **Clean the exterior surfaces**: Wipe down the exterior of the toilet, including the tank, lid, seat, and base. Use a disinfectant or all-purpose cleaner to remove any grime or residue. Be sure to clean the flush handle, as it's a high-touch area.

6. **Clean the seat and lid**: If your toilet has a removable seat and lid, take them off for a more thorough cleaning. Clean both sides with a disinfectant solution or soapy water, and then rinse and dry them before reattaching.

7. **Disinfectant alternatives**: If you prefer a more natural approach, you can use a mixture of white vinegar and water or lemon juice to disinfect. You can also sprinkle baking soda inside the bowl before applying the vinegar to help with stubborn stains and odours.

8. **Clean the floor around the toilet**: Wipe and disinfect the floor around the toilet, as it can accumulate spills and splashes.

9. **Flush and rinse**: After scrubbing and disinfecting, flush the toilet to rinse away the cleaner and any remaining debris.

10. **Clean the cleaning tools**: Rinse the toilet brush thoroughly and store it away from other cleaning tools to avoid cross-contamination.

11. **Wash your hands**: Once you've finished cleaning and disinfecting, remove your gloves and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

**Regular Maintenance Tips:**

- To prevent stubborn stains and mineral deposits, consider using an automatic toilet bowl cleaner that releases small amounts of cleaning solution with each flush.

- Wipe down the toilet regularly with a disinfectant or all-purpose cleaner to keep it fresh and clean between deep cleanings.

Remember, cleaning and disinfecting your toilet regularly not only keeps your bathroom looking clean but also helps maintain a healthy and hygienic environment for you and your family.
